Warranty

A roof you can stand on — backed in writing

Every Clear Home installation carries two layers of warranty: our workmanship and the manufacturer's product. On certified system installs we can extend that protection up to 50 years, including transferability to a future owner. Here's exactly what that means.

Two layers of coverage

A roof has two failure modes: the materials can fail, and the installation can fail. Every Clear Home job carries protection against both — a manufacturer's product warranty and a Clear Home workmanship warranty. They cover different things, but the homeowner only has one number to call: ours. We handle every claim end-to-end.

Workmanship warranty

Covers how we built the roof — fastening pattern, flashing details, valley construction, drip-edge installation, vent boots, ridge ventilation, ice-and-water shield placement, and tie-ins. If anything we touched fails before the warranty term ends, we come back and fix it at no cost.

Manufacturer warranty

Covers defects in the product itself — granule loss, premature wear, lamination failure on shingles, finish failure on metal panels. The major manufacturers we install (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed) all carry comprehensive limited lifetime warranties on their architectural shingle lines.

Certified system warranties

When you install a complete certified system — manufacturer-spec underlayment, leak barriers, ventilation, hip and ridge — through a certified contractor, both layers of warranty get extended substantially. We hold the credentials to register these systems:

  • GAF Master Elite Contractor — eligible to register the GAF Golden Pledge, which covers materials + workmanship for up to 50 years, transferable.
  • Owens Corning Preferred Contractor — eligible to register the Owens Corning Preferred Protection systems with extended labor + materials coverage.
  • HAAG Certified Inspector — we know what insurance carriers and warranty claim adjusters look for, which speeds up every claim we file.

What's NOT a warranty event

This is the part homeowners don't always hear up front. Storm damage — hurricane, hail, tornado, wind — is not a warranty issue. It's an insurance claim. We handle insurance claims for our clients (it's one of our core services) but we want you to know which lane every problem belongs in:

  • Insurance claim: hurricane wind damage, hail impact, fallen tree limbs, lightning strike, ice dam damage.
  • Workmanship warranty: a leak around a flashing detail we installed, a shingle that blew off because the nail pattern was wrong, ventilation that wasn't adequate.
  • Manufacturer warranty: shingles that lose granules within the first few years, a metal panel finish that chalks or fades far ahead of schedule, laminated shingles delaminating.

Filing a claim

Always start with Clear Home. Call (504) 285-9060. We'll send a roofer out, document the issue with photos and measurements, and determine which warranty (or insurance) applies. From there we file the claim on your behalf and walk it through to repair. Because we hold direct certification with the major manufacturers, our claims move faster than the industry average.

Frequently asked questions

What roof warranties does Clear Home provide? +
Every Clear Home installation includes two layers of warranty coverage: a workmanship warranty on our installation, and a manufacturer's warranty on the materials themselves. The exact terms depend on the product line and certification level — for GAF Master Elite installs we can register systems for the GAF Golden Pledge, which covers both materials and workmanship for up to 50 years.
What's the difference between a workmanship warranty and a manufacturer warranty? +
The workmanship warranty covers how we installed your roof — flashing, fastening, ventilation, underlayment, anything that comes back to installation technique. The manufacturer warranty covers the shingles or panels themselves against defects in the product. Standard manufacturer warranties run 25 to 50 years; standard workmanship warranties from non-certified contractors typically run 1 to 5 years. With our certified system installs we can extend the workmanship piece dramatically.
Are your warranties transferable if I sell the house? +
Most manufacturer warranties can be transferred to one subsequent owner within a defined window (often 60 days from sale). Extended system warranties like the GAF Golden Pledge include transferability terms in writing. We register every install we complete so the warranty travels with the home — ask us for the registration certificate.
What's NOT covered by a roof warranty? +
Common exclusions across all manufacturer warranties: damage from severe weather events outside normal wear (hurricane, hail, tornado — those go through insurance, not warranty), damage from unrelated work on the roof by other parties, lack of attic ventilation that causes shingle failure, and pre-existing conditions on the structure beneath the roof. We walk you through every exclusion before installation so there are no surprises later.
How do I file a warranty claim? +
Call Clear Home first at (504) 285-9060. We'll inspect the issue, determine whether it falls under workmanship or manufacturer coverage, and handle the claim filing on your behalf. We've been a GAF Certified Contractor and Owens Corning Preferred Contractor for years — those relationships speed up claim approval substantially.
Are emergency repairs covered? +
If a covered defect causes an emergency leak — for example a manufacturing flaw in the underlayment surfaces during a storm — repair work to stop the active damage is part of the claim. Storm damage itself is not a warranty event; that's an insurance claim, and we handle both processes for you.
